A staple at parties for as long as I can remember. Shrimp Cocktail is a high protein, easy to make Hors d’oeuvres. The only drawback is the usual sugared cocktail sauce. Hence, this recipe that makes it much better for you.

Ingredients:

Jumbo Shrimp (21-25 to the pound)
Lemon wedges

Cocktail Sauce:

½ cup No Sugar Added ketchup
1 to 2 tablespoons prepared horseradish
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice, or to taste
¼ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Pinch of freshly ground black pepper
Few drops of Tabasco, to taste (optional)

Instructions

  1. If the shrimp is not pre-cooked. Poach in boiling water (Optional: Put a couple of lemon slices in the water) for 4-7 minutes. Drain and cool.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the ketchup, 1 tablespoon of horseradish, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, pepper, and Tabasco. Taste and add additional horseradish and/or hot sauce, if needed.
  3. Cover and refrigerate until ready to use.
  4. Serve with lemon wedges.
